Recently I've been on a rant about Allstate Insurance and I don't want you to think I've forgotten about our lovely friends, the oil companies. Especially our good buddies at Exxon Mobil Corp.
So, guess who just won the honor of becoming the U.S. company to make the largest annual profit....ever....of all time....of all the companies in this country....larger than thousands and thousands of companies combined?
Oh, you're way ahead of me. Yes, our favorite oil supplier in the land, Exxon Mobile! How much you ask? How does $40.6-billion sound? Can't imagine how much money that is because you are making minimum wage?
Our friends at the St Petersburg Times have broken it down for you:
-That's $77,194 a minute, all day all night, all year long.
-It's nearly the entire domestic product of Luxembourg ($40.7-billion).
-It is larger than the combined net worth of Google founders Sergey Brin and
Larry Page ($33.2-billion).
Sales for the year rose 4% to $404.5-billion. And whose profit record did it beat? Its own! Profits for the company are up 253 percent from 2002!!!
Here's a look back at the annual net income the company made in the past 6 years:
-2002: $11.5-billion
-2003: $21.5-billion
-2004: $25.3-billion
-2005: $36.1-billion
-2006: $39.5-billion
-2207: $40.6-billion
That's a grand total of $174.5-billion profit for 6 years.......not a bad business to be in at all is it? But, man, can they make it sound like they are in the poorhouse!
That's it, just some numbers for you to think about. Maybe, hopefully, someday, enough people will read about this that they'll do what I do and NEVER buy any gasoline from Exxon Mobile company. If we could all just give it a try for 6 months I think we could put a stop to having a gun put to our head and ordered to pay whatever price they determine.
It's a simple thing to do and the big question is; what do you have to lose? Try it. You might be surprised how much money you'll save.
Of course, if you are an Exxon Mobile shareholder or top employee then by all means keep buying your gas from your company. After all, it's just pocket change for you.
